Fromage of the Day, 10.02.11: Camembert Mons.  Creamy, dense and vegetal, this Camembert, a cow’s milk cheese from Normandie, has passed the ultimate test: I took one to a dinner hosted by a good friend of mine from France.  She liked it so much that she asked where I bought it.  It’s much better than most of the Camemberts on the market; the only counterparts on its level are Jouvence and Sweet Grass Dairy’s Green Hill.  It pairs well with your favorite Chablis, a Gaffel Kolsch, or a dry cider.  If it was a phase of Jeff Beck’s career, it would the mid ’70s, deep and accessible.  The Joy of Cheese October Events begin October 5 with a Cheese Plate Happy Hour at In Vino; here are all of the details.
